If you are only working for a salary and have no enjoyment or feeling of satisfaction of a job done well, there is nothing that can motivate you to work better. Job satisfaction is more important than salary and salary alone can't give you that satisfaction.

incentive to work, like having more responsibility for me. I don't like being a peon on the bottom of the chain who doesn't get any credit or responsibility. I worked in a bakery and i was assigned the tasks of making the wedding cakes, and the special orders that nobody else could artistically could do. The job that i just quit i hated because policies were always changing and a lot of times we didn't know about it..but would still get chewed out. Ive asked a few times to be trained in other areas but they refused or just neglected to get me into that next training class. Its ok though..i didn't want to deal with more angry mean people (it was an inbound customer service center for gmac) it just got to the point where i couldn't take it anymore dealing with customers is stressful enough then dealing with unruly management makes it 10x worse, i didnt want to work at all. I just quit that job and now i have an offer on the table to be a pastry chef for a hotel, which is awesome it would give me that responsibility and accountability that im looking for, i want to be indespensible that they need me and are willing to work with me and pay me to do what i love, which if i get this job, i will have so much motivation to do it, its what i love doing.

Give me a challenge and I will work. Salaries aren't the best motivator since they can also bring up incorrect/false expectations. Best to create value and reward people by giving them something that challenges them and makes them feel part of where they work, not just another employee who still doesn't make as much as they think they should.

I have had many types of jobs in my life, in many different field types... But, my favorite to get my motivated, was one, working with the public, at one of thee "busiest stores" in the city!!! I kid you not!!! Our store was the Busiest in the whole city of Long Beach Ca.!! And it got so busy on a daily basis, that before I knew it, it was time to go to lunch, or to go clock off the clock, for the day!! I remember one particular Christmas when, we had so much business, our boss had to put four of us girls working the one register, in the film dept, thats where we did "Layaway's" film processing, refunds, you name it we did it!!! And it got so busy, there was money & checks on the floor!! The drawer would not close anymore, it was so full of money!!! Those kinds of jobs, keep that keep me so busy, I go home wondering "Where did the day go?!!" Those types are the "Motivators!!!" And busy hands , are definately "Happy Hands!!!" Atleast mine were when I worked there!!HaHa! Smile!!!!
