Honestly, I don't think he has the effects you do from dropping caffeine out of your lifestyle. I'm guessing since your headaches are so bad that you have been addicted to caffeine for a number of years so it goes to follow that your baby has not been on caffeine as long as you have so his withdrawal is much simpler and not painful. If you are really concerned I'm sure a quick phone call to your OB would ease your mind.

Current research suggests that small to moderate amounts of caffeine will not hurt the developing baby. I would say that if you are experiencing headaches because of the lack of caffeine you would be better to drink a little and be more comfortable. Stressing yourself, stresses the baby. I don't know about the baby experiencing withdrawals, but it has been proven in cases of illegal drug use by mothers. Besides, you're 37 weeks, your pregnancy is almost over. Check out the links below for more info, hope that helps. Take care and congrats.

I know you are allowed a certain amount of caffeine while pregnant...I wanna say its 200-300mg? I could be wrong about how much, but I know some is definately ok, just dont over-do it. I think its better to have a little something with caffeine and feel better than to suffer through having none, pain of anykind like that is not dangerous, but not pleasant for the baby either!

You don't have to give up caffeine, and stopping cold turkey is not a good idea, if you have been drinking it all this time why stop now? Below is a new study just released. But my docotor said I can have 2 cups of coffee or sodas a day and all would be good.

I drank 3 cups of coffee a day throughout both my pregnancy's, I also smoked. I had healthy baby girls both times. I wouldn't worry, if your ultrasounds are fine then the baby is most likely fine. I think the coffee is better then the tyl. you take for the headache.

Not having caffine is a GOOD thing.
The headaches can be helped by taking Vitamin C, Potassium, Iron, Calcium, Magnesium, zinc, Vitamin D, Vitamin B complex and drinking some whole milk - do not drink skim or reduced fat milk - only drink whole milk.

Talk to your doctor. My sister had the same problem and her doctor allowed her to drink a certain amount daily. He had her mix regular and decafe together to help reduce the amount of cafein in the coffee. Good luck.
