depends what factor you are testing for. The most common i can think of is rheumatoid factor. It is a test which can help to indicate rheumatoid arthritis if positive. However it is not a conclusive test, so positive doesnt mean you definitely have it and negative doesnt mean you definitely dont have it!

Its just one of several tests that would be conducted at the same time to establish a diagnosis.

25% of the population are Rhesus negative most people (like myself) don't find out until they are pregnant. If you have a blood transfusion and are negative you must have negative blood because negative blood rejects positive but not the other way round - if you have a transfusion there is no time to establish neg or pos you will always be given negative blood. The only other time you need to know is when pregnant (although first pregnancies wont make a difference) if you have a baby with positive blood and you are negative some blood can get into your system during the birth and then your negative blood forms antibodies to reject any more positive blood the hospital will give an injection of anti-d immuglob shortly after birth to prevent your blood building up anti-bodies.

take a factor, if its good, its positive, if its bad then its negative.

positive is good :D negative is bad :-(
