Microsoft is forcing everyone to download SP2 update in order to overcome the daylight savings time change this year. Are Macs having the same problem, or did they think ahead and there are no downloads needed?

Actually, it depends on how you set your time. As for mine, I set mine to sync with apple's time (Go to System Preferences, then go to Date & Time, and then go to the Date & Time tab. You will see the option to sync it automatically).

This simply means that from time to time, your computer will connect to time.apple.com and check if the time on your computer is correct. I think this is a good idea, since it will take care of whatever daylight saving time the congress would care to pass, and also, keeping your computer's clock accurate (well, so long as time.apple.com IS accurate).

So, they DID think ahead, and no, you do not need to download anything to fix/change the daylight saving time.

This was not an issue with "thinking ahead". Congress passed a law in 2005 that changed this. Nobody on the planet could have foreseen this.

ANY software created before the law was passed will have an issue if not patched. That means old version of the Mac as well as any older software running on a Mac even if the Mac OS is new.

Same problem.
You can't think ahead and try to figure out what a politician is going to do.
