the commercializing of holidays has helped you to associate these colors with these holidays and months. go back to your childhood in grade school... what colors did you use to symbolize february and valentine's day? you've been taught well.

WHITE=JANUARY. white sales after christmas.
RED=FEBRUARY. time to buy roses and sweets.
GREEN=MARCH. springtime and st. patrick's day.
and on...

or, it could be that the color on your calendar on the wall for february is red.
