If I spotted on Sunday and Monday but didn't start really bleeding till Tuesday, what counts as the first day of my period?

I would count the first day of red flow, so Tuesday. Will try to post some sites to back this up, but it's what I have always heard to do.

Sunday...Always count any day that any type of blood comes out...

this is my understanding and Ive read alot about it.I'm ttc so its important to me as to understand this.
you count the first day when you need to use a tampon or pad not when you are spotting or have very little blood. not brown but red blood.this will be day1
