They have become a much better team. Based on spending money and winning, it doesn't always work. Take the Yankees as an example. With all the acquisitions they have made they will be able to compete with Houston and the Cardinals.

But I think the key factor is still Prior & Wood. Kerry is 30 pounds lighter and ready to go. If Kerry & Mark can get back to form, and with all the new players, Yes they can finally make it to the World Series.

Go Cubbies !!!

I hope the Big "Z" is also back to last years form. And not worrying about getting more money.

It is not about spending the most money. The Yankess have not won it all in quite a few years considering how much they spend a year. It is about chemistry, and quality of players. Yes the Cubs picked up the best hitter available in the offseason, but did not spend wisely on pitching. Ted Lilly is an average pitcher. He is not a #1 or 2 starter. And Marquis was not even on St. Louis' World Series or NL championship roster. So that tells you something about him. They are going to rely on Prior or Miller to fill a spot. Both have horrendous records when it comes to health. All this said, and with St. Louis being a very solid team again, and Houston and Milwaukee improving, and the Reds and Pirates not horrible either, the Cubs will NOT make the postseason. Again.

I have nothing against the Cubs, but there is not enough money in baseball to get them a World Series championship! They can have all-star hall of famers at every position and they are still the Cubs. Something always happens to them.

You can never spend enough money to win a Championship. Look at our Payroll and it's still hasn't brought us a World Series Win since 2000.

The Baby Bears signed some good ball-players but I don't think any of them realize how hard it is to play ball up there in April,May when that wind is whipping off the Lake. The Cubs will struggle early but make a run at the Division but the Cardinals will,I repeat will, hold them at bay.I love the Cubs-Cards rivalry its one of the best in baseball

They spent enough to win a series, but theyre the cubs, so they invested in worthless players (jason marquis) and something will go wrong like always and theyll blame karma like theyre on My Name Is Earl

Does Ted Lilly scare you? They really did nothing about the pitching. I know some of the previous posts say it is all up to Wood and Prior but Prior doesn't have a guaranteed spot in the rotation! Wood will be in the bullpen but think about the phrase "it is all up to Wood and Prior". We have heard that for many years and they have gone out and came up lame each time. Z is their only horse and by what the media is saying in Chicago if they don't agree to a contract before spring training he is gone next year and the Mets would love to have him. Heck any team would.

I think they went out and got some good players, but I think they needed to get a few more pitchers. I am a Cub fan and I sure hope that they can win it all. Go CUBBIES!!
