ITS SHOULDN'T MADDER WHAT ANY ONE THINKS OF THE NAME. ONLY WHAT U THINK ITS UR BABY UR GONNA HAVE IT, RAISE IT. SO NAME IT WHAT U LIKE AND DON'T LET ANYONE CHANGE UR MIND OR MAKE U SECOND GUESS UR SELF. IF THAT WHAT NAME U LIKE THEN PICK IT. I SEE NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. I LET MY MOM ALWAYS PUT HER THOUGHTS OF MY BABY'S NAME IN MY HEAD. AND I NEVER PICK THE NAME I WANTED. THAT I HAD IN MIND. STAY TRUE TO UR HEART. GOOD LUCK

i think its a pretty name...might b more fitting for a girl than a boy, but its not really gender specific. will u spell it true or tru? in my opinion true is a better choice. id stay away from naming her truly like some may suggest, but thats bcuz one time i had a customer w a funny name on a check, and i thought it might b one of those secret shoppers that make sure employees r looking at identification...the name on the check was Truly S. Boring! i made sure to look at her id and it was really her name lol. so, make sure u look at her name from all angles, initials included, so that shes not resentful later. u could even go with a few middle names, no one says u can only 1 middle name, i knew a girl w 3 middle names...gives her a lot of options :)
oh yeah, n tell ur friend that if she wants to take the pain of labor, the cost of raising, clothing, feeding and educating ur child that she can name the baby whatever she wants...if not, then she can just deal with it ;)

Tell your best friend she can name her own baby. You name your baby what you want. I always named my children by the history behind the name. Not the sound. I believe that when a person askes how you got your name, your child should have the honor of telling an interesting story. My first child was named after her grandmothers nickname. (which wasn't anything like her real name) and my son was named Jack'son because he was the son of Jack. I think it makes a child more proud of their name when it has some interesting history behind it. And it is always something special they can tell their children and grandchildren when they need a conversation starter. Besides, it usually shuts up the bully that makes fun.

It is not stupid, just unique. And for what it happens to MEAN, it is actually a really GOOD name. Could be short for Trudy Or Truman if you still want to call the child Tru but not be deemed "weird" or stupid. Don't be afraid of people judging you. My daughter has a unique name and she loves it. Any teasing she received she took as celebration. (her name is a month and her middle name is a kind of weather...can't say.. I love my ANONYMITY! LOL) Go for Tru! I support you and salute you.

I like the name Tru but I think Tru Hope is a little much for me. But who care what people think my sons middle name is Lethal and most people do not like it. We love it so that is all that matters!

When naming your child think about how others will tease him/her especially in school. Children can be very cruel and not all children take criticism well. Why True, because of the meaning? Perhaps other close alternatives may be a sounder choice but I'd never say anyones ideas are stupid because they're their own. By the congratulations on becoming a parent!

If you spelled it Tru I think that would be unique and different. But I wouldnt spell it with an E at the end. Then it is more like the word where as if you just named him/her Tru that makes it unique. Good luck. And congratulations.

I got a chuckle out of the "it sounds made up". All names were made up at one time or another. And its a positive word. I have nothing against it...unless you'd stick something like Blue after it. There is not one name on this planet that will please all the people. I can tell you one thing... your child will not go to school and have 5 other True's in his/her classroom. This happened to me in first grade with my own first name and I named my own child something more uncommon, purposely. Nothing off the wall....just not one of the popular names of the day. Although, the name did become popular a few years later.

I think that it is very unique! I wouldn't worry about what other people say, Everybody has their own opinion, some people are inconsiderate about others feelings. True is nice, and it is not like you are naming your child Apple. lol...now Apple is an odd name. (No offense to those who name their children after fruit)

I don't find your choice is that different than calling your child Hope, and Hope is a very pretty name.

Choice is yours, I'm sure whatever name you choose it will be the right one!

Good Luck and Have Fun! :-)

They want their child to be "unique" and stand out. But what they fail to see is that it's the child that makes the name, not vice versa. They might just grow up to be the exact same person they were meant to become as an Anna or Michael, not a Luxie or Gunnar. At one point or another every child hates their name, even if you've given them a fairly normal one, but I think you have a bigger chance of that happening when you've got people saying "Hey Luxie!" at her all the time. Wow, that name really gets to me. Makes me think of Luxembourg...
