I have black friends and I want to know this answer as well. I live in a very large apt. building and as of lately we have had 7 black people move in. We live in an area of town where mostly Dr.'s and Lawyer's and business owners live. For many years black people just didn't know that this place was for people on limited income such as Social Security. This is a very nice building and the grounds are beautiful. I told some of my friends( I've had black friends all of my life) one of our new residents is a member of the same church as I am.Now we have people of color living here and I would like to say that 90% of the other residents welcomed our new residents. They bring laughter and fun to our Pot Luck Dinners and Bingo get tog ether's. But one Lady that I like a lot said if one more moves in she'll move out! I was shocked! I asked why and this lady said that yes they are nice but what if their grandchildren come and start trouble? These black Ladies are very nice. One lady sings in the Church choir and anther's son is a Pastor in another church. When one of the grandchildren does show up with droopy jeans hanging beneath their rump it scares the other residents! We can hear the words shouted in the rap music and quite frankly it scares of few of the residents.I promised one of the black ladies( The Pastor's Mother) That I'll help her pull up one of her Grandson jeans if I catch him with droopy jeans. So here its the style of dress (that doesn't make sence to their Grandparents either) and I can't call rap music the words are pretty scary............and the clothes.I'd shame them right along with their Grandma.

I'm surrounded by idiots that think like this, so I'll just tell you what I hear THEM saying about it.

Basically, it comes down to stereotypes. They think blacks are lazy, unmotivated to better themselves, and irresponsible when it comes to bearing children out of wedlock, and bearing them in situations where they require welfare. They also think that blacks have a "thug" mentality as expressed by their music, and that they commit more crimes and more violent crimes than whites.
