Budget plans for a non-profit organization...?

Hello. I am not quite sure how budget's work, but I was asked to form a budget for an npo I work for, and I am not quite sure what I am doing...Can someone either give me resources or a template or something to help. I am on messenger as lawguy04_1984...thanks.
