Check the online store for good deals.

You should get a good laptop with
1.120 GB hard drive
2.1 GB RAM
3.WINDOWS Vista
4.Wi-fi and wireless
5.Good screen,
6.DVD writer etc
within CAD1000 from the FUTURE SHOP. If you are from the USA , the equivalent should be less expensive.

Personally I have been using TOSHIBA but I also like HP. The next one I am going to buy will be HP.

well for under $1000 thats gonna be kinda tough so you would need a system that has atleast a intel core duo with atleast 1.8ghz and 512mb ram and a graphics card with 128mb and harddrive space of atleast 80gb but the more the better and if you plan on gaming get a graphics card that is name brand perferably nvidia I've had my Sony Vaio for a year and it has the specs i just gave but i paid $1,800 for it but Sony usually costs more so maybe look into HP or Dell

I don't think you'll find a decent brand new gaming laptop for under 1000. A laptop's not good for gaming. Oh, just never buy a Dell - ever- ever - ever.
