I have a 2002 Mitzubishi Eclipse. Yesterday when was leaving the University my car would not start. It didnt even make a noise like it was trying to turn on. I got it jumped and it started right up. I got home and when I tried to start it again it would not start. This morning it would not start. I jumped it and it SLOWLY turned on, like it was struggling. While I was driving to work i noticed the interior lights would flicker a little bit when I hit the brake or would get to normal when I hit the gas. I am somewhat mechanically inclined and any help or advise would be appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Actually the best thing you can do is to jump off the car and take it to an auto parts store like Advanced Discount Auto, Pep Boys, etc. Leave the car running and go in and tell the guys at the counter what is going on. They have a diagnostic tester that they hook up on your battery which will tell you whether it is the battery, alternator, or starter, etc. They offer this service for free. I did this recently when I was traveling and they even helped change the battery for free... I was at an Advanced Discount Auto store, but I am sure that the others do this as well.

If you say the battery is completely dead with not even enough energy to light the lights and it was a new fully charged battery, that just sat in the car for three weeks. You have a parasitic ground, which means something was left on. Or else the main fuse is blown.

#1. Clean your battery terminals and cable ends leading to the terminal ends. Coat both areas with terminal / battery post protective spray (available at an auto parts store). Tighten them up. #2. Have your battery checked with a "load test" at any auto repair shop. This test tells the reserve cranking ability in the battery. #3. Last but not least have your starter solenoid, Bendix and field coils checked. Do these things in order because of expense involved. You'll find the problem.

go get the battery tested, sounds like it is not holding a charge. Its a 5 year old battery probably, so it may need to be replaced. I had a battery on my integra for 9 years, but most won't last that long, since most aren't hondas.
