Yep 1969, Leave through Mexico City- Exit to Cuba marked on passport, Play baseball, work in cane fields. Exit by ship to Canada cross back into the USA. Niagara Regional SDS Traveler handed out applications for the Venceremos Brigade and had them filled out and he would hand deliver them rather that give them to the Government by mailing them. Old SDS became DSA History does repeat itself.

Yes, she went to Cuba with the Brigada Venceremos to cut sugar cane and photos of that appear in the Gramma newspaper ( only newspaper in Cuba at that time ) It was on the late 60's when the tyranny of Castros brothers still killing cubans by firing squad in "La Cabaña" and others sites of the island. Today, too many cubans and visitors go to "La Cabaña" to see the 9 pm show of the cañonazo de las 9 ignoring the blood spilled by too many cubans fighting to see a free Cuba and screaming Long Live Jesus Chris, and these happened just a few feet from the show. What an irony.
