go visit the ruins in riviera maya.this should be in a tour so they can expain all.
go to playa del carmen it is a small cute town .you can visit it walk around and then take the ferry-25 minutes to go to cozumel-an isalnd,no tax on perfumes - go back to playa del carmen and have dinner.playa is 40 minutes away from cancun.there a buses down town to take you there relly cheap, air condirioned.
you can ask what bus goes to the bus station and get there in a bus from the hotel area for 70 cents in comparason a taxi at otel area is 9 dlls to get you either down town or even in the sanme hotel area!
la isla is the shopping mall.cute but nothing you have not seen in miami! nice otax free perfume and make up stores.lots of american fast food-go for mexican restautrants.
while in the hotel are save a LOT taking the buses to go out and go places they are cheap, some AC.they take you everywhere -ask slowly the bus driver where you are going and they will drop you there!they run all day and night and are super save.they also take you down town.do not be afraid to ask! people are friendly and i am sure the locals wll help too.although not everyone speaks english but usully they will understan known places like if you ask"señor fro'gs" or wallmart.maybe write the plkace down they will recognize it and tell you where to get off!there are buses that take you down town-which very, very close to hotel area- by bus and as i said costs like 70 american cents.you'll find walmart to buy your beer-you can sneak it into the hote-or bottels of water.all tourists do that-
do not have water or ice! go for bottled water or beer.avoid the colored shots they sell at clubs.fun is "the city" -where the discos and clubs are.it is veryt big and has like"shows" you watch ,the music is nice, but there are a lot of other clubs.you can also get from ur hotel to this area by bus.at night if you go on spring break the traffic can get a little heavy.there is only one big avenue!so bear the traffic!there can be long lines to get into clubs.normally they sell a bracelet for like 22 dll and that includes cover and i think all you can drink.
there are really good restaurants ,the expensive ones-there are a lot of guides-go for like 50 dll per person but worth it.very good food.as i said just take your guide and point to where you are going-to ask for bus stopto ask where bus stop is go: donde esta la parada de camion?
or which bus do i take to go to.... que camion tomo para ir a .....copy this and take with.useful!
please do not pay attention to any "FREE BREAKFAST" SELLING TIME SHARE IS A plague .THEY WILL STEAL A WHOLE MORNING OR DAY OUT OF UR VACATION!
i hope you enjoy ur vaction.
don't forget you sunscreen!
girls do not "dress up to go out dancing!#,it's really informal like fipl flpos and shorts! maybe nicer for a nice restaurant.
i'd not go to thins u have at home like MC D's.... do try real mexican places!
enjoy!

No, I wouldn't worry. First off, you are still several months out from your trip. The chance of containing the outbreaks in that time is very high. Second, Although a few NYC students got sick, the reports vary as to whether or not they were in fact in Cancun or somewhere else in Mexico. By most reports at this time, the outbreaks are not centered around Cancun. Third, drugs like Tamiflu appear to be effective against the swine flu and the cases in the US have been mild even though they have a relationship with a people who have traveled to Mexico. In this case, time is on your side. Nations around the world are acting now to contain any outbreaks so that it doesn't become a long lasting problem. I bet by July, swine flu will be a distant memory but if you are worried about it, ask your doctor for a Tamiflu Rx and have it filled prior to going away. If you start to feel sick, begin the treatment. But at this time, it is too early to panic and cancel your trip. My parents are going to Cancun this summer and my boyfriend and I are going in the fall. Neither my parents nor I are cancelling our trips at this time. It's not the time to panic. My advice to you would be to wait until the end of May or mid-June to see where the news goes on this before you decide to change your trip plans.

Like the saying goes: What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. Same holds true for Cancun. Last time when we went to Cancun, 3 out of the 4 woman that we went with, went topless on the beach and in the water. The girls had fun doing it and the guys, well, there was a lot of topless woman doing it anyway. All beach's on the strip, are public property. Think about it...NO TAN LINES. Note, you may need to visit the BAR first. lol. Have FUN.

I have been to Cancun twice, and I think I am going back in May. There is only one thing that I regret not doing, and it is taking the JUNGLE TOUR......It looks like so much fun, it is 2 and 1/2 hours and you and one other person drive your own jet ski through the jungle......if I do go back in May, I am doing that. I was just looking at expedia to check on prices and it says the jungle tour is about $55.00 each.

All types of water sports/activities, touring the ruins, shopping, etc. Some hotels offer nightly activities for their guests, which may include stage shows and audience participation. Pretty much anything you enjoy doing is available in Cancun.

My friends and I hired a boat and went snorkeling around the reefs and mangroves. That was a good day trip. try going to La isle de mujeres, or cozumel for a day also. there is a nice mall, bugee jumping which i personally wouldn't trust, jetski rentals, kayaks, but really, it IS mostly about drinking and everything I just mentioned, we did with a beer in hand. Have fun! it is beautiful for a 95% U.S. owned strip of hotels and bars.
