I have plenty of experience in this field as I have thrown 3 baby showers in the last 6 months!! The cutest thing I found to write on a cake is "Which will it be...... a he or a she???" The person who makes the cake usually writes this in blue and pink and can either put a big question mark in the center or can decorate it with flowers or a baby stroller, etc. If the mother knows what she is having write "it's a girl" or "it's a boy" We even went so far as to use the babies names on the cake. Just be creative !!!

If you know the sex of the child, you can write, "It's a girl" or "It's a boy", However, you don't have to write anything. You can decorate it in lots of cute ways without words. Everyone knows why they are there. Some people put cute little diaper pins and ducky's around the edges on top, with a pretty border in bright colors, like yellow, pink, blue etc ...

I had a baby shower for my twin sister who was expecting a baby girl and I had this written on her cake: Welcome Baby Josalynn Joyce Sykes. I had a vanilla with buttercream frosting. They put pink trimming on the cake, purple pink and yellow flowers, and purple writing. It looked very nice.

Congratulations!

Or, decorate the cake in such a way that you don't have to write anything (such as those special cake pans that are shaped like bears, for example).
