I scratched my tigh on a table that LOOKS but I don't really know whether it's rusty.Will I fall sick?

For god's sake, this is the fourth time I have taught people this: RUST DOES NOT CAUSE DISEASE! GERMS DO! In fact, tetanus is a BACTERIA. Notice the third grade science involved: RUST is a condition of corrosion on metal. It is not alive. TETANUS is an infectious bacteria. It is alive. It is true if you ate a bucket of rust you would probably become very sick from metallic poisoning, but tetanus is caused by bacteria NOT rust.

Well, I have to tell you that you better go to see a doctor. Why? Because the wound have to be cleaned, at least, but, if it is deep it have to be stitched. Also, the anti-tetanus shot should be considered if the wound is deep enough. It doesn't matter if the table was rusty, clean or on the ground. The tetanus is given by a microscopic microorganism, and I can ensure you that the table wasn't sterile.
It is not necessary to get sick from a scratch, but it is better to be sure.
So, my recommendation is to go to a doctor.

If the table is rusty and you haven't had a Tetanus shot in the last 5 years, I'd HIGHLY recommend talking to your doctor.

If you do not have up to date tetanus cover you should see your doctor for an anti tetanus shot.
Make sure to keep the scratch clean.

Maybe lockjaw! get a tetanus booster jab if you've not had one in the last 10 years and don't walk around with bare thighs again

Tetanus is the disease...but you not only need rust, you need dirt. So if the table was clean, you are ok. If it was lying ont he ground, you should get a shot.
