Even though I'm a liberal, what Ellison did was completely unnecessary. Even Cons like Tancredo should be allowed to smoke in their own offices. And about the Quran, I don't think so... leaders are sworn in with the bible as a tradition, not symbol of support for religion and therefore it does not need to be changed. Ellison is a LOSER.

That depends! If there is a ban against smoking. Then yes he was right. Why does Ellison have to go and ask a person not to smoke when it's the law!! These are government elect officails they should be obeying the law for crying out loud seeing as the are making them. What I can make the laws but don't have to obey them, I think not. Tancredo should have been the one not to be elected seeing as he can't obey the laws why have a voice in making them!
Furthermore Tancredo should already know most people don't like smoke and don't want to breathe second hand smoke. Give Ellison a thumbs up.

This is it? You're complaining because a Muslim, an adherent to a faith which sees smoking as an abomination, called the cops because someone broke the law? Forget about Ellison, what abut Tancredo? I doubt if he cannot follow Congressional laws that he can follow the laws of the state.

I read the article and it does not say anything like what you have noted, figures.
It stated that Ellison's press secretary, Rick Jauert, made the call when he,the press secretary that is, saw smoke coming through the walls. Was he to know that Tancredo was smoking in his office? Not unless he was clairvoyant. The wording of your question shows your ignorance and inability to read the article you cite. The article went on to say that Rick Jauert called the police and then told his boss about it.
Tancredo's response has cemented for me that he is nothing but a bigot. His beef should not be with, Ellison but with his press secretary.

Yes he is absolutely right.
Tancredo is stupid and a bigot... and I say that as a lifelong Republican. I've worked on political campaigns, I've voluntered, I've given money, I vote every election and I never vote Dem. Tancredo is still and idiot and bigot and boob.
Did you know that Tancredo was listed as a 1A draft category for Vietnam, but he got out of being drafted on a mental health deferment? Not kidding. He went to a shrink and talked about how much stress the possiblity of being drafted was causing him and how it was making him feel all anxious and depressed and got a letter that he took to his draft board and he got a mental health deferement.
This was the first election in my life where I didn't vote Republican, I voted Libertarian; and the reason why was Tancredo and his ant-immigrant bigotry. The GOP won't stand up to him, that's their right but I'm not going to vote for them anymore. He is a Know-nothing, straight out of the 1840s.
Tancredo is always talks big and is all confrontational with people who can't fight back (like illegal aliens), but when it comes to dealing with people who can fight back (like the Viet Cong) he gets all "I'm so ANXIOUS, don't make me GO!"
Ellison was right to stand up to the cowardly bully and call his bluff.
I wasn't a fan of Ellison, but now that he did this, he has my respect.

How much more time do we want to be wasted on a stupid picture? Of underwear? How many times does someone need to be subjected to the kind of questions that Weiner has been asked? He says he didn't send the pic, the recipient is annoyed by the press, but has stated she's never met him and she isn't upset at him. The only person fanning this is the guy who claims he's lifted it from the site and he was the one who has publicized it. No touching, no angry woman, no nothing but a reporter who hated liberals yet spends time watching Weiners every tweet.

Actually smoking is not a crime, it's a civil offense and the police have no jurisdiction.
So it was a waste of time, tax payers money, and police officers valuable time.
But Ellison got some free publicity and that was what he was probably after anyway.

Well I don't see that by the info in the article that Ellison made the call, it was a staffer, so unless there is something showing it was Ellison instructions I think we just have a case of a staffer over stepping their bounds

Just remember this when he comes up for re-election. Call his office and let them know how childish this was and that you will not ever support him and then tell all your Friends to do the same. Whatever happened to picking up the phone to call the other guy and give him a chance to rectify the situation whether it was him or another person who was smoking. .. We need better politician's in office not wimps.
