Freedom is basic to choice, and choice is the highest of moral virtues, morality is based on it, otherwise it would not be morality but mere repression. All other determinations whether our choices are good or bad are lower on the ethical scale because if we don't have a choice or the power to do good or evil, any our action can not be considered a virtue, and virtue is the heart of morality.

On the contrary, freedom has everything to do with morality. Without freedom, there would be no choice. And our ability to choose precisely determines the parameters of morality, in all its contexts: personal (conscience), social, and universal. If we have no volition- if our actions are predetermined, imposed upon us or ultimately not our own- then morality finds no application in our lives.

Freedom has nothing to do with morals. Some people who are free have morals. Some people who are not free have morals as well.
