If you are saying that you only took the course but did not certify with your state and/or county, then no, you can't practice work as an EMT yet. You'll have to get certified to be allowed to work.

After that, then yes, there is a lot of EMT work available from event staffing, hospitals, ambulances, and volunteer.

Absolutely! Most private ambulance services (AMR, Rural Metro, etc) hire EMT-Basics to drive the ambulance and assist the paramedic on-scene. They also hire EMT-Basics to run BLS calls, or routine BLS transfers.

If you want more hands-on 911 experience, you might look into volunteering with a local fire department.

Hope this helps...

Yes,
Once you are license as a EMT-B, you can do all the skills that your state protocols allows. If you are going to do this as a job, some places make you go thru a preceptor time, where you have to prove your skills to your employer

You might try doing it as volunteer. That way gets you in the door. There is also a profession EMT Certification Exam that you can take; visit Prometric.Com to check it out. Be advised it isn't easy and lots of professions fail. . Pass that one and you are well on the way.
