Not sure about the blowing up part....thats just mass execution. (And sorry, but I'm not in favour of sanctioned taking of lives...) But I think that rounding up criminals and putting them on an island with no means of escape is a wonderful idea. For those who think of it as cruel...putting all of them together and the violence would ensue...I think it is exactly the kind of justice they deserve. They do not need protection from eachother, we need protection from them!
It would be far less costly to station 'guards' out on boats than it is to run the prisons... Let the prisoners fend for themselves...with no help from us. It would become survival of the fittest. Or most evil. But either way, they are no longer endangering society, and we are not paying for them. That should solve all the belly aching about the cost of the prison system....

With all the liberal bleeding hearts out there holding prisoners hands and forgetting the victims this island has no chance of being anything but a hope for what would be a complete deterrent to all the criminals who now get a slap on the wrist and their hands held.

Sounds good, but how about using a more remote island in a more desolate area, like one of the small satellite islands off Greenland or something like that? After all, they're criminals, so why shouldn't they have to face rough climates?

Not a bad idea - I still think the prison boats are a better idea though. Better still, put them on a disused oil rig in the middle of the North Sea or something.

The Isle of Man is too close to the UK and Ireland. They should be put on one of the Falklands

We have thousands of islands around the UK why evict people from theirs to make way for criminals?.The principal of putting prisoners on islands and letting them fend for themselves as often appealed to me but it wouldnt work as their friends and rogue socail workers would be mounting constant expeditions to free them.

Why put them on a beautiful island like the IOM. A deserted island in he outer Hebrides would be more like it.
