I was refused on the grounds of epilepsy, but then I went to the doctors, because the diagnosis was questionable, to see if it was accurate, which it wasn't. I have doctors letters saying that I don't have epilepsy, so if I went back to the DVLA (In England this is) would I get a license?

well, it depends upon what the diagnosis ended up being. you will probably need to prove that you do not actually have epilepsy and also what the current diagnosis is. it might take a little bit of work, but you should be able to get it back as long as you are safe to drive.
