I believe your ISP will support you with a new one. I think you should get on line with their tech support first and let them test your connection to make sure it is "fried". It may only need to be reset by them. Also have you tried "rebooting" the modem. Shut if off for 2 or 3 minutes and then turn it back on and let all the light come on before you try your browser. It may be as simple at that.

Also, you should have a Surge Protector installed between the wall plug and your electronic equipment. Go to Comp USA, Staples, etc. and find a good surge protector. Read the back of the packages. You should get one with at least 800 joulles of protection. Plug all your computer equipment into it to prevent any of it from "frying" during storms, etc.

Hope this helps.

I'm sure they will replace it. That happened to me once, not only did the modem fried up, but so did the t.v the refrigerator, my ps2, and other things. That's why I always unplug things during a lightning storm.

sure it is your modem as I had to do a similar element yet my cable company provided it freed from fee. when I went from 16mps to twenty-5 they stated it is going to require a clean modem. so that they despatched one through fed ex and upgraded my velocity. How i recognize your difficulty is even as waiting for the recent router I had 25mps yet velocity assessments would in trouble-free words pass as hi as 15-16mps when I gained the recent modem all become high-quality. Your modem for sure cant take care of the recent velocity and needs replaced.

Don't even mention the storm. Just call them and say your modem is not working and you need it checked out. They should replace it no matter what.

They should, it was not your fault, or worst xase Homeowners insurance, but such a big company should for free or dump them and go to the fastest DSL service your phone company provideds, and get a modem and cables to connect it free

Ever heard of Act of God?
My house got blasted by a Lightening bolt, and everything got Crispy fried. The likelihood that they will FEEL obligated is low, the possibility that they are legally obligated is zilch. Only a Court deciding they are obligated will likely affect it.
Unless you rent your modem, then you are fine.
If you bought it, well, see above.

I had the same thing happen to me and they will not replace it. After you get it fixed add a surge protector that you can hook your cable to. I did and I got one for each TV too. I'll add a couple of links for you. They will give you an idea of what to look for.
Hope this helps.

Your insurance if you have any will probably have to pick up the tab. This is assuming you have tried to call Time Warner already, right?

Why not call Time Warner or your insurance company.
