Remove the cover and check the wire connections, you may have a loose connection. I looked at the web site of the company that makes this thermostat and they do not show batteries in the thermostat. If your wire connections are good it is simple to replace the thermostat if your wires are color coded properly. It operates on low voltage 24v ac.

If all power connections show good, you have a bad display. Thermostats are around 24 dollars more or less. It might be much easier to replace it than to try to fix a problem that is that difficult to track down. Also the problem could be with getting information to a good display. You can't fix the display or the circuit which sends information to the display. If all power connections are good, just replace the thermostat; don't worry about what went wrong unless it happens again.

Go buy a new thermostat. They are very easy to replace, and they don't cost much.
