Preservation Science Lesson Plan - any ideas, please?

Question

I am looking for a basic outline lesson plan to teach different methods of preservation. It will be for a KS2 class of around 30 children. Anyone taught a similar lesson?

what do decay micro-organisms need to grow? food, oxygen, water, warmth
make bread mummies then mummify bread by baking some in oven at 100 degrees for 10/20 mins and packing some in salt for 24 hours
leave in cupboard with untreated bread for a week to see what happens
create ice mummies by freezing
