I guess you mean an iPod.
1) Try sliding the "Hold" button at the top of the player. The screen should light up and you'll be able to use it with ease.
2) If you are referring to the "safe"-type locking system (four numbers to choose as a combination lock), then you will need to restore your iPod to its factory settings. Plug it into your computer, iTunes will open and then "Restore" your iPod.

sometimes they have a 'hold' button or switch so that playback is not affected by unintentional nudges to your mp3. If you turn the hold mechanism off then it should be ok...

if it's coded...and you forgot your pass word, you have to sync it and hit the restore to original settings on your computer. (or you can jump out thewindow naked saying i'm a monkey lol)
