generally if dealing with an adult,it would be disrespectful to refer to her as 'girl'. however it depends on your relationship with her and the context in which itg is said. eg. if you are her friend or even dating it could be said in a friendly way eg. ' this is my girl' ' girl,you look great today'. it also depends on the type of woman,regarding how shell take being referred to.whether shes straight laced or easy going.

hey girl would be less formal of more intimate, where as woman would be more formal and for a more public greeting

i'm older so most of the "girls " are girls at my job and if they act like "girls" then i treat them like that.
