A software for compressing songs to mobile?

i have n series phone. Is there any software which i can use for compressing and converting tracks on my pc to cell phone? It should be free.

I think u need to make it clear... do you want something to convert songs to mp3 format so that they can go on your phone?
or compressing mp3's? or something to transfer the music across??
