If you start with a 20 min run/jog that kickstarts the calories burning rate. Studies show varied pace helps even more. If you sprint for 5 min, then slow for another min, then sprint for another 5, repeat for atleast 20 min.
Then incorporate a cycle (not a bike) wieght workout. Normally 10-15 various weight lifts (Tricep extension, Bicep curls, butterfly's, squats, leg extensions, leg curls, etc) working different muscle groups. Try to keep the pace up so it keeps a cardio feel to it but allows the groups to rest while you work others.
As you muscles builds you may gain wieght (muscle wieghs more than fat) but your increased muscles will also burn more calories at rest and will decrease your fat percentage.
This is the basic concept behind the Abs Diet and has worked for myself and some of my friends. Have fun.
BTW, what is the stone to pound conversion?

Running is one of the best ways to drop weight. Also add weight training to your workout. Running five miles a day is very good. You may not be able to get to your ideal weight because you muscle mass is very dense. The more you run and lift weights the muscles get stronger and become more dense. Check your waist size for your aga and weight because you might be well below the size in relation to the average person.
