The Sun is about 149 million km (93 million miles) from Earth. This is the average distance; since Earth's orbit is an ellipse, not a perfect circle, the Earth-Sun distance varies slightly throughout the year. In early January when the Earth is at perihelion (Earth's closest point to the Sun in each orbit), Earth comes within 147.09 million km (91.40 million miles) of the Sun. In July, when Earth reaches aphelion (its furthest point from the Sun), it recedes to a distance of 152.10 million km (94.51 million miles) from the Sun. Thus the Earth-Sun distance varies by about 3%, or roughly 5 million km (3 million miles), over the course of a year.

We can get the distance by viewing the Sun from two places on Earth. Another way we get the distance to the Sun is to first get the distances to the planets by radar and then deduce where the Sun is from the orbits of the planets

A unit of distance equal to the average spacing between the Earth and the Sun. Usually abbreviated AU , it is equal to about 150 million kilometers (93 million miles), and is a distance that light takes about 8 minutes to cover.

93 million miles. If there is a speedway between earth and the moon. It would take

93000000/100 = 930000 hrs = 38750 days = ~ 110 years if one wants drive by a car...

So, one has to pack the bags immediately after the birth with one-way ticket ;-). Ofcouse he would get deep-fried after travelling a year anyway.
