ok for the display driver, if it is built in on the motherboard(aka u dnt have an external AGP or PCI card), its driver must have come with ur original motherboard CD (not the windows XP) search for the CD of ur pc's manufacturer,it must contain the driver ! If ur card is external, an installation CD must have come along with the card,so insert the cd and update ur driver automatically from the device manager.As for the sound , i suppose its Ac'97 media, so also using the same CD of ur motherboard's manufacturer,install the audio.Goodluck

There are several ways out.
1) Get to Device Manager by rightclicking on 'my computer' icon and click on manage. Get to Device Manager and try to install the VGA card and the Sound card and other components by letting it search the web for drivers.
2) If you know the name and maker of the VGA card and Sound card you can search for it online and download it especially from the manufacturer's site.
3) The last option is for you to call a PC technician to help you fix though its gonna cost you some money.

Rebooting just means restarting, you re-installed your operating system. You also need to re-install your drivers, they are small programs that make your graphics card and sound card work.
You can download them from the manufacturers websites, I'd also burn a copy to cd before you install them in case you need to do this again.
You also need security software. It should be difficult for a virus to get on your pc.
You need to install one firewall. The Windows firewall doesn't stop malware on your pc from dialling out.

You need to install one anti virus;
http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/ -AVG anti virus or
http://www.avast.com - Avast Antivirus
http://www.bitdefender.co.uk/site/Main/view/Download-Free-Products.html - Bitdefender 8 doesn't run in the background and can be used as a second back up anti virus.
You need all these anti spyware programs;
http://www.ewido.net - AVG(Ewido) anti trojan.
http://www.safer-networking.org - Spybot Search and Destroy anti spyware. Use the Teatimer settings to protect Internet Explorer, and the Immuniser to stop malware getting on your pc.
Spywareblaster works with Internet Explorer and Firefox. It won't uninstall spyware that is already on your pc, but it will prevent hijacks and other malicious changes to your browser.

Plus;
http://www.lavasoft.com - Ad-Aware SE Personal anti adware

you need to re-install your drivers for display and sound.
if they didn't come on a cd you've got, your in trouble, since any warranties or replacement deals don't cover end-user abuse(getting a virus is neglect, which voids your warranty if it damages your computer), which means, once you've re-installed, your on your own.
But, geek squad, for a fee, might have the drivers you need.
