competition is the result of greed which is the result of man's desire to survive and dominate the weaker of his kind.

As long as there is human life on this planet, there will be man's basic desires in conflict with his spirit.

We compete because we choose to, quite simply.
It's a matter that has it's root in the desire to survive and the core of those desires is fear.

All of societies ills can be reduced to their simplest form and you will find that each has it's root in the desires of the body. The voice of desire is loud and easily heard and we choose to listen to that instead of the still quiet voice within. The enigma is that the still quiet voice has a face, too. and it is all around us, but we are so close to it, we look past it and never see. Most of us don't anyway.

Well tbh, I am super competitive. I don't like it when people are better than me. I don't like losing, I don't like getting bad grades, uggghhhh makes me mad just thinkin about getting a stupid B or being second place or something. It's like I'm not good enough to get an A or be first place. I've made people cry before. I become a different person when I lose. It's like so crazy!!! I would say I work with others well, but for me to work with others well, I have to be on top first. Get me???

Yeah ~ but in fact, you can't push people to change their perspectives and be less competitive and more co-operative because in this fast-changing world, we've been prioritized money and materials rather than the good values that human being should have... although I still believe strong bond of relationship between us as crucial as our everyday works -- but who cares about my feeling and desire on this?

It's a world of capitalism -- it's the application that we applied in our society and nations. Get used to it!

Its because success and well being is measured in terms of how much 'stuff' or money you have and in order to get plenty of it you can't be too cooperative. People feel the need to compete, to 'win' at something to validate themselves and feel they have a purpose or identity.

You are right it shuld be the other way round. Things will have to get a lot worse before society starts to realise and make some changes to our behaviour.

Being competitive seems to require the exclusion of others in order to succeed and excel, whereas being co-operative requires the inclusion of others.

Instinctual behavior geared towards survival. It's hard wired into our construct and the construct of all life I'm aware of to be this way. You don't get; You don't eat, You don't eat; You die. It allows us to co operate when it's to our benefit and to compete when it is necessary.

Competitiveness breeds innovation.
If we didn't have to compete then how or why would we improve our methods?
