A college is a single school, like a college of law is a single school of law, and a college of medicine is a single school of medicine.

If you put two or more colleges together at the same place, it is then called a university. So, a university is a group of two or more colleges.

If you qualify and can get accepted and can pay for a college at a university then you can get into a university.

A friend of mine had no A Levels but recently completed a pharmacy degree at Brighton University.

Instead of A Levels she did the Science Foundation Course with the Open University. She then used her performance on this to get her onto the Pharmacy degree. She is a mature student - so slightly different rules might apply to those applying at a younger age.

No formal qualifications are required to start studying with the Open University - just a willingness to work hard and the signing over of your spare time for the length of the course! Believe me - I have an OU degree!

College and universities are pretty much the same thing. College is like a community college for people that do not have the grades, sat scores, money, etc to go to a University so they take two years at a community college then transfer. As long as you have graduated, have decent grades and sat scores, and the money you can go right to a univeristy. Good luck!

You will be able to get into University as a Mature Student, or by completeing a 1 year Access Course at home.

In October at the age of 33, with NO A Levels, I will be starting a BA in English Literature with the Open University.

You can go to University without any qualifications at all but you may have to tell some white lies etc.

Find the course you want to take, then find the University you want to go to then get a prospectus & fill out the forms.

Check the grades necessary for the course that you want to take & make sure that you obtained them in your school report.**

If you didnt get good results at school you should up the grade ** that you obtained & put a higher grade on your form & just make a tear in your school results to obliterate the mark.

You will be admitted to your choice of University & course providing there are places.

You will however have to work harder to acheive a pass.

You will also be able to obtain grants & student loans.

Make sure that you do not get into the rut of pubbing & clubbing each night because you will find it extremely hard.

Good luck You can do it, believe in yourself & be a winner.

Oh no, you should be able to go to a University. Going to a University is just like going to college, so you don't have to take one before the other, unless the University you want to attend has certain rules about it.

It says there that you'd need to do either a BTEC or A levels... but you already have the GCSEs you need so that's good. Go along to a college near you and pick up a prospectus to do a BTEC in IT, you'll get in easily, and it'd take two years, but it would allow you to get into uni and also you can get work experience in other areas, so even if you do change your mind, you can still have better career prospects. Good luck.

If you got good grades at school you should be able to get to University but it might depend on what you want to study there. Look at the University websites and hopefully you'll find the information.
