I would have to say it is a lack of parental supervision. That is only the tip of the iceberg. Kids don't often have the two parent home anymore. When you have two parents in the home, chances are they both work full time. Thus, leaving the kids alone for a few hours until they arrive. I blame that on corporate america. Most of the families I know, have to work weekends, holidays. You can't have a basis of value on no time spent. The schools don't take an active interest in family values like they used to. So the kids start hanging out. Having, what they perceive as fun. Trouble starts and the rest is history. Today's kids aren't all bad. We rarely hear about the good kids. We hear about the gangs, drive by shootings.

The idea in school that the only way to survive in America is to join the ranks of the Dog eat Dog world that we live in. No longer is happiness about being happy, its about having money and a blonde hair blue eyed sociolite as your wife.
