My guess falls under the heading of "Bread and Circus":
The Roman emperors knew that if they entertained the masses that they were less likely to be bothered about wealth and corruption and riot against them. People have always loved a show that makes them forget their own lives, and they still do.
People love to see other people's misery. Makes their own lives seem great by comparison.
People like to talk about people. Many don't know their neighbors anymore so whatever's hot in the media makes good common-ground (sports, etc.) for casual conversation. The media panders to what people want, making lots of money doing it: it's a vicious circle.
People see the larger-than-life lives of "stars" so they grab tid-bits about these people's lives to add glitter to their own lives.
There's a hundred ways to beat a dead horse, but that's the gist of my guess.

Well personally, I never followed her story much. I am very near her hometown but her choices didn't impress me...and I have been close to this kind of fame before. The space shuttle exploded over my neighborhood etc. So this little touch of local fame doesn't ring special to me. I thought she was a bimbo and a gold digger...and a tramp.
But I had read somewhere that she and I have the same birthday and I always held that kind of in the back of my mind. And she was only ONE year older than me when she died. I found out that she died on a day when I wasn't doing so well. I had forgotten to take my medicine for depression. I take this medicine because for the last eight years, until December, I was taking care of my mom who was sick. And my mother died on Dec 15, very recently.
So it was a crappy day anyway and the more I thought about this dead celebrity that I shouldn't care about, the more it bothered me that she had died. We had a little connection, after all, with the same birthday...and I was already grieving, and after a while I was just sobbing out of control about EVERYTHING!
Sometimes weird things that shouldn't matter become more significant when you are already in a bad place.
As far as this goes as a news story, it will come and go like they all do. And then it will be someone else's turn to have the spotlight as it should be. I do hope that wherever she is, Anna Nicole has found peace. And I hope her family is civil about her money and her baby.

I always thought that she was ditzy and way way out there. But the death of her son made me see her in a different way. I have a teen-aged son and i don't know what i would do if something were to happen to him. Her death made me feel very sad for her.
Whether i feel bad for her family i'm not really sure.I think that her
husband should have the right to bury her. The baby girl is another matter. Where were these people earlier on in Anna's life?Maybe that is why Anna was a little outragous in her lifestyle. There could have been many other ways for her to show
her beauty. Now everyone is worried about where to bury her. Three men claiming to be the baby's father.CA-CHING!!!!!!!
Let Howard K. Stern bury his wife,he was with her thru thick and thin. She was his wife.He should have that right to fulfill her last wishes.Let the women rest in peace.

It's not so much that Anna Nicole is "important" to us, it's that here was another rags to riches story gone bad. Like Marilyn Monroe, Anna reached the heights but failed to protect herself against the wolves. Very sad story.

anna nicole smith's death is just as important as cancer to the average person. it is an infectious disease that people want to get rid of but cant. people are idiots and they are like oh she died how tragic or how sad or something, well we all saw it coming. when i heard the news i stood up and clapped (I was infront of many people seeing as i was watching the tv in the grocery store) now people are still talking crazy about some stupid s*ut that i personally would have killed if she wasnt already dead.
maybe the average person should just have ear plugs and blinders so average people wont get this cancer anymore.....

nicely, my opinion is the global has lost an particularly large Hollywood communique piece. i do no longer imagine in any respect that her lack of lifestyles is faux in any respect. With the age of press, it might want to be more desirable sturdy and larger sturdy to faux your lack of lifestyles, noticeably a superstar lack of lifestyles like this. no matter if her lack of lifestyles is appropriate to Trimspa or no longer, i do no longer recognize, yet i visit allow you to recognize this, if you're a stockholder in Trimspa's parent employer, promote, promote, and promote more desirable. promote til that's all lengthy gone because no count what the actuality particularly is, the commonplace public is going to link Trimspa to the shortcoming of lifestyles of Anna Nicole and the Trimspa era is bureaucratic useless today. the entire eating regimen pill era is death, and took a large hit today. In a twisted way, those sorts of exercising video clips are going to get a strengthen because human beings are going to be petrified of Trimspa and its evil sisters. Anna replaced right into a eye-catching lady and that i for one will particularly omit her.

Cause she was one of us when she was growing up. She grew up in a small town in Texas and was poor. Dropped out of high school, got married at a young age and had a baby right away. Started dancing at a strip club. Typical actions for someone who is lost.
Granted she was into drugs and all that. But right now so soon after her death, people need to realize that there are friends and family that are in mourning. These people lost someone they loved and that is what is important.

The only thing I can think of is her death serves as a lesson to people as to what happens when you abuse drugs and how much damage you can do to yourself and those closest to you when you engage in all kinds of illegal, immoral, or unethical behaviors -- particularly if you're in the public eye constantly.
