I tried to answer your question earlier this morning when it was on page two, and having typed up the answer, I somehow pressed something on the keyboard which not only caused me to lose the question, it took me right back to the desktop, and since then, having started from scratch all over again I've been looking for your question ever since, and I finally found it on page 24!
I was going to say "From Me To You" from memory because I remember buying not only the record but the sheet music as well. Now that I've found you again, unfortunately it comes as no surprise to me to find that somebody had to go STRAIGHT to WIKI to get an answer (which of course YOU could have done should you have desired!) rather than leave it to somebody who KNOWS the answer. I fail to see how any satisfaction can be gained from such an action.

The Beatles' first EMI session on 6 June did not yield any releasable recordings but the September sessions produced a minor UK hit, "Love Me Do", which peaked on the charts at number 17.

It depends which chart you refer to. Back in 1963 there were many different charts which were all held in high esteem, e.g. Melody Maker, New Musical Express, as well as the BBC's own chart.
Please Please Me is normally referred to as The Beatles' first UK no.1 single but it didn't make no. 1 in the BBC chart. Their first UK no. 1 in the BBC chart was the next single, From Me To You.

Please Please Me was considered their first charted No. 1 single, It was even advertised as such in the local Mersy Beat music newspaper of the day, with the four Beatles stacked up one on top of each other thanking the fans for making them No. 1 with the saying, "You've Please Pleased Us!" In any venue that you look at, Please Please Me will be listed as a No. 1.
