...i would not say you loose it as such, it is just that you have a different childhood compared to 96% of the world's children

Well that depends.
You don't simply ruin it by becoming famous as a child, it all depends how the child and its family relate to the whole situation.

It is possible to have a "normal" childhood while also being famous - you can go to a normal school, have normal friendships, play and stuff. But if you are dragged around on tours or parties and stuff - doing things that children don't usually do, in a way that complicates being normal, then yes.

But there are also different opinions on what childhood is. For most parents, a good childhood is the one that they had themselves, or the one they didn't have, but wished they had.
For children, a good childhood doesn't have to be either. Most children adapt, and think their childhood is great, mostly based on their relationships with family and friends, and if they feel that they have had opportunities to express them selves creatively and in other ways.

We only hear about the tragedies. There are many others who thrived into their adulthood. If I had to make a choice by your question I would suspect they lose some of it. And others are clearly ruined by it. Individuals are unique. The news fools us all by reporting the negative because it makes us feel better in comparison.

You don't ruin it unless you do bad things. Like drugs or turn to drinking.... But you do loose it.

Yes I do believe this is true. The main factor for this is MONEY. Kinda makes you wonder why so many people pursue something so incredibly harmful. And they complain about the drug addicts!!!
