Area can be x sq ft

3x + 85 = 2x + 100

That's the equation from the paragraph - the amount that store A charges is the same as the amount that store B charges for x sq ft

Now solve for x

Basically what you need to do is put the information of Store A into one linear equation that fits y=mx+b, and put the information of Store B into another linear equation. Then, graph the two on an XY plane. The point of intersection where they cross is your answer.
