Chickens in small flocks live several years if conditions are correct. A life span of 6-8 years may not be unreasonable. Most commercial layers are kept for 2-3 years. i hope that helps i pasted it from a site that i looked up on google that i was looking up.

That mainly depends on the size of the chicken. There are two types of chickens: Standards & Bantams

Standards normally stand close to 3 feet tall. Many Standard chickens can live from 6-12 years old or so.

Bantams (sometimes called "Banties") stand about 1 foot tall. They normally live shorter lives and will live only about 3-6 years old or so.

Depends on how you treat it. A chicken can live as long as 19 years if it does not fall prey to a predator first.

I have two pet hens who are almost 4 years old and they are going strong.

Untill you eat them! Kidding, sorry bad joke. They can live for quite a few years. I had 2 when I was a small child and they lived for 6 years.

If you take good care of them they will live for several years. If you want them for laying they wont lay very good after a few years though
