My husband and I are expecting a little girl in a couple of months and we are partial to the name Charlotte. However, we HATE Char and Charlie for nicknames. (By the way, we LOVE nicknames, so please don't respond by telling us to just insist that our little girl be called by her full name.) I have recently been on the site thinkbabynames.com. It states that Lola is a variant form of the name Charlotte. I'm not quite sure what that means but I would love to assume that it means Lola is a nickname for Charlotte. Would you assume the same? Has anyone heard of Lola being the nickname for Charlotte? Do tell...

In my baby name book, it lists these as variations on the name Charlotte: Carla, Carlie, Carly, Carlene, Charlene, Charline, Cheryl, Karla, LOLA, Loleta, Loetta, Lolita, Sharleen, Sharline, Sheri, Sherill.
So, I say, go for it!!!!!!

(By the way, I also love nicknames!)

Lottie is the usual nick name for Charlotte. I have never known anyone with that name and it being shortened to Lola it just has nothing to do with the name Charlotte. Lola is a name in and of itself. Why don't you just call your baby Lola if you like it so much.

I have never heard of Lola being a nickname for Charlotte but I think it's adorable. I don't think it matters that it isn't a common nickname. It makes sense and it is cute. Do it!

Lotte is a short form of Charlotte.
But Lola is a beautiful one to call your daughter.
You don't have to conform to the standard nickname.
