Some women find that they retain a lot of extra water around their period, but the answer is to drink more...not less. Maybe look at taking something like Aqua Ban, a gentle diuretic (makes you pee) for women. You take it just before your period is due and for a couple of days into your period. You may find that helps a lot. You can get Aqua Ban at the chemists (there are other products too which do the same job, just ask)

Within the large intestine, the waste absorbs available water to make a bulkier stool. When waste is not moving properly through the bowels, it can accumulate and become impacted in the colon, creating discomfort. One of the more common symptoms is bloating.
Bloating is the swelling of the abdominal region which may be uncomfortable or painful. It may last for only a few days for some, or for long periods of time for others. Occasional bloating associated with constipation is frequently brought on by life circumstances such as travel, a change in diet, or pregnancy. various things can contribute to water retention. Drinking too little water is one of them. When you urinate, is it just a little? If it is, then you do seem to have another problem. If a UTI, vitamin C is an effective agent. It takes quite a bit, like 5-6 grams/day. There are other things you can use. Corn silk tea is a big help. Most other things are toxic, and should be avoided.
