According to Homer, she was not kidnapped, but went willingly. The Greeks were there to avenge the insult to Menelaus, not to rescue Helen. The Odyssey talks specifically about Helen's regret over having chosen to flee with Paris. But the part about Menelaus dying outside the walls of Troy was Hollywood.

I depends which version of the story you believe. Some say that Aphrodite caused Helen to fall in love with Paris ( a gift for Paris from the goddess ) and therefore was willing leave her husband Menelaus and their daughter. Other sources portray her as an unwilling captive in Troy. Others say she never went to Troy at all.

At the end of the day it is a myth and so there is no definitive answer.

I own 3 movie versions of the Helen of Sparta-TTroy tale, and I've read much about the Trojan War. There are diifferent accounts as to whether she went willingly or was abducted by paris. Rhe usual account is that Aphrodite gosddess of love and beauty promosed Paris the mopst beautiful woman alive if he awarded her the Apple of Discord in a beauty contest against Hera and Athene. The goddess or her son Sris (Cupid) could certainly make Helen fall in love with Paris or wwith a baboon for that matter. I say she went willingly. It is rhe movie that changes the tale in many ways. Achilles was a giant and stronger than any other man alive. Brad Pitt is more like Diomed, a small but skillful and brave man who often beat much bigger men, e.g. Achilles' giant first cousin Ajax at patroclus' funeral games.

The older version of the "Troy" story is Homer's epic poem "The Illiad". In that version, Helen went willing with Paris.

As this is a fictional story, the correct answer is whatever the current writer decides to have it be. In same version she goes willing, in others in she is kidnapped and then falls in love with Paris, in others she is an unwilling victim from start to finish.

Athena, Aphrodite, and Hera were all trying to figure out who was the most beautiful, so they went to Paris and Athena and Hera said they would give him power and riches or something like that, and Aphrodite said she would give him the most beautiful woman in the world if he picked her to get the golden apple (which went to the most beautiful) He wanted the woman so Aphrodite won. She soon realized that the most beautiful woman (Helen) was taken but she "put a spell on her" and so she went off with Paris, and so the war began.
