Best get the brakes tested ( be safe ). If it's not the brakes, it must be an electrical fault. If the other lighs are comiing on and off as they please, it could be ( if it's similar to my T reg Vectra) the connection on the back of the instrument panel... and that takes ages to get apart, so labour charges could mount up.
Ring a vauxhall dealership and ask them if it's a common problem, or look on line for the vauxhall owners forums.
Lot's of Vectra info there.

I'm afraid it WILL fail - the ABS warning light is the only one involved in the MoT procedure at present. However, it's often very simple to resolve, it's just usually a sensor that needs cleaning or realigning.
I think you have two separate problems, one being the ABS light which you say has been on for some months and another one involving the other lights, which may be just a loose connection behind the dash.

Most of the time when the abs warning light comes on it is just a wheel sensor that requires cleaning or just replacing, it isn't an expensive job and the MOT station would do it for you.
Take it for the MOT and see what they say.

It will likely be a sensor problem. often cleaning them up does the trick. Try disconnecting the battery overnight. This sometimes resets warning lights. It depends on the tester. An abs light on needn't mean the car will fail providing the brakes are within the limits.

The engine having issues starting off would nicely be because of the engine temp getting too warm. verify that the temp gauge is actual operating because it truly is going to (regularly ignored) - the thermometer would nicely be damaged or damaged. also, not uncomplicated to perceive with an exterior 'verify', make sure that coolant pass isn't being blocked/stopped from actual flowing and cooling the engine ideal! I had an same difficulty with a vehicle (storage did not p.c.. up on it) and it burnt out a cylinder ....... couldn't be repaired!
