So confused at the moment as I love Art history. However, i have experience within and love the fashion culture and the money it offers for the hard work.

I have applied for fashion degrees and have been invited for an interview, which I'm proud of as I worked my socks of hard for. But why is my gut feelings telling me that art history might be the one?

To the graduates out there: "Is it because the grass look greener" ?

If you want to combine the two, maybe you could find a job at the V&A museum in London. They have had excellent fashion related exhibitions and being a museum, your art history interests will also come in to use.

Decide what the most important thing is to you - the actual labor, the compensation, the work schedule, or the advancement opportunities that those degrees will provide for you in a career.

For instance, just because you like Art History doesn't mean you are going to like any job that will be interested in you when you have an Art History degree. I love psychology, but the thought of doing psychological experiments or being a psychologist for the rest of my life makes me want to poke my eyes out with a red hot poker, so I had to decide to pick a degree plan I didn't necessarily enjoy at the time, but would enjoy for years afterward when choosing a career.

It is so confusing trying to decide what degree you want to do and before the astronomical fees came in I would have said choose which one you are most passionate about and youthink you will enjoy the most. Now I would definitely say choose the one that you think will get you a good job (i.e probably not Art History). You will always have doubts and you can change your mind later down the track but you will probably feel better once you make a proper decision.

Art history is a great subject and i love nothing better than spending all day in The National Gallery or The Tate. However, working in those sorts of places is not so glamorous- quite low paid and they rely on volunteers for unpaid work. It's very competitive- helps if your father owns an art gallery or you are related to Prince William! Dealer galleries are hard to get in to. You would be better doing a fashion related degree in my opinion as there is far more demand for that and you could always go back to art history as there are loads of courses out there on that subject- but harder to get in to fashion later.

The reason you may feel art history might be the one is that it is a doddle!! looking at beautiful works of art all day- not bad. Mind you, some of the theories and philosophy can be rather heavy going at times- but the national gallery coffee shop saw me through!!

I'd go to The Courtauld Institute to study art history- would make loads of contacts there. Quite hard to get in but good if you can.

I'm not a graduate I'm a part time student, and I took the subject I was most interested in, not the one I had done lots of previous study in. Do what you love. I have started working towards a degree and I am really enjoying it. Whatever you study there will be things that branch off from that which could give you great career opportunities. Do what will make you happy and things will turn out ok.

Bear in mind that a fashion course may involve some element of art history (certainly of fashion history)... but isn't there anywhere that does a joint honours or major/minor programme so you can combine the two?

Get a degree in which will lead you to do what you love. That's a mistake I and many other people make. Do what you love in hte end you will be the happiest.

You have got to choose a degree in something you enjoy.

At a later date you can always do something that pays well.
