This reminds me of our dog....we spent ages inspecting her paws and wondering what could be wrong...then we discovered she was just cleaning them and nibbling little bits out from where she'd been for a walk!! So that might be the case with yours!
If yours is a pup however, they do tend to do this when they're bored and want a toy to chew!
Hope that helps

Some dogs that do this have an obssessive compulsive disorder. It can be brought on by a number of things. If he does it a lot and is damaging his paws through licking / biting then you should take him to a vet to get him checked out for any physical reasons for the behaviour. If the vet can't find a physical reason then you should take him to a dog behaviourist. Ask your vet to recommend one.

I think a vet or dog care specialist could answer better, but I watch my dog alot and believe he is cleaning. I grew up with cats so I was used to constant "primping", but I did not know dogs did it until I got my fourth puppy. I have since read that some breeds are just more festidious about cleanliness.
It sounds like your dog really likes his feet clean, including in and around the nails, which are hard to get to without shoving his whole foot in his mouth.

Ask your Vet to check for allergies. I have a Pet Service, and I care for a Maltese, he chews his paws constantly. The owner had him checked for everything, here they discovered allergies, and obviously the allergies affect his feet. Also, some dogs tend to chew or lick their feet after coming in from the cold to remove the snow between the pads, and some pets may just be cleaning themself. I don't think cats have the market cornered on cleanliness.
Again, check with your Vet.

My daughter's dog does the same thing, and the vet said that it is a habit. Like a baby with a soother. Nothing to worry about

might want to take him to the vet. My dog did that and he had a yeast infection!!???!! yeah weird I know but I guess in dogs it happens at their feet and where their armpits would be. If he/she has a little bit of an odor, that might be a sign of a yeast infestion also

Usually it is because he has grass seeds in his paws or something small in between his toes and he can't get it out. Try looking between his toes.
My dogs sometimes do this because of itches or grass seed.
If your dog won't stop chewing take him to your vet.

Heprobably has fleas, thats the only reason dogs normaly "bite" they're feet. If you mean he's licking them he probably cares about his hygene.

My dog does this when he needs his scent sacks expressed. They do it because they are uncomfortable. Another sign of this is chasing their tail. You need to see a vet pronto.
