I asked a question yesterday pertaing to politics and religion in the work place.. here is the link...http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AhJ.LQJvQPBwQMT203UrTEbsy6IX?qid=20070214164908AAG9XIo

Some had said it was.. I did a little reading about work place harassment.. I just don't want to start throwing that around if it isn't.

Seriously though.. It has left others and myself feeling a little bit hostile.. and angry.. How do I go about this.. since my supervisor hasn't done anything to solve this.. I love my job but this one guy makes it hard to want to be there..

I read your question about politics and religion in the work place. In order to be considered harassment, the harasser's intention must be aimed at you and others who do not have the same political or religious views.

I would say that it is not harassment, but if your company has a policy regarding politics and religion in the work place, the person has violated it. I have fired people only for violating the rules where we prohibit any sort of political and religious proselytism.

I read your question, and didn't have any helpful insight as to how to approach the problem. Yes it is harassment. How to cope? Who's radio is it? Who brought the radio in? Who turns it on? Could you come in early and cut the cord off of it? I delivered to one place where they had howard stern on the radio. Not sure what I would have done if I had worked there, I was glad I could leave soon. I stayed with a friend a few weeks while we worked a job away from home. He liked rock, I preferred country. We compromised, and turned the radio off.

Speak to your boss. I had to tell my administrative assistant who loves old time gospel that the rest of the employee's (who are all Christian) don't like to here her music. I told her she was welcome to play it but she needed to turn the volume down and close her office door. She sings in a gospel group so she is practicing while she works. It's okay with me as she has a very good voice. It is distracting to others though so I asked her to turn down the volume and shut her office door and all are happy now.

A slap round the face works wonders when all else fails! They cannot sack you! because they have failed to act on your behalf, therefore they can be sued in a court of law! Go for it hon!

If your supervisor won't do anything about it, try talking to someone in Human Resources. Or you can go over your supervisors head and talk to HIS boss!
