There are new coin dollars comming out today as you probably know and I'm wondering about their future value.

Now being a student of finance and economics, I am aware the supply, its limitability, and other factors come into lay when asscessing a price. Personally I think the new coin dollars with the presidents on them will fail like the Susan B Anthony and Sachejewea due to the fact we still have paper currency and the dislike for carrying coins around, so I'm anticipating limited production due to the fact they will stop the program sometime in the future.

Although, given what you know so far, what is your outlook on these new coins in terms of future value?

Don't count on limited production for they will be available in many ways. Lets see there is a P mint mark, a D mint mark, S on the proofs and don't forget they have a new finish on mint sets, so there will be a P and D there, with that finish. Teachers at schools will get kids involved like the state quarters. I am not a student of finance or economics and I have done quite well collecting coins. I do it for fun and the history involved. I have found my coins have gone up in value, of course I do not collect modern coins, except for the proof and mint sets as well as some of the low mintage commemorative's the mint does put out once in a while, usually due to lack of sales. As for the dollars circulating, I have to agree with you, the dollar bill has to go. I am amazed though at all the people running around with a mess of quarters in their pockets when a dollar coin that isn't much larger will replace 4 of them. What does your back grown in economics tell you about spending millions printing up dollar bills that last from a few months to over a year. A coin lasts 30 years or more. Seems something is wrong here. Maybe it is time for Americans to be inconvenienced, so we can save money or at least put it to a better use.
