Listen to me. You don't need to feel guilty. You haven't done anything wrong. The person who ought to feel guilty in this situation is your husband.

You calling the police isn't what sent your husband back to jail. Your husband did that to himself, and the decision to take him back there wasn't yours, it was made by the police and the courts based on the evidence in front of them - and I'll bet any money your phone call wasn't the only evidence.

You need to believe that none of this is your fault. You haven't asked for this. You didn't deserve it.

I don't know whereabouts you live, but I suggest you get in contact with local services for victim support, or for women affected by domestic violence. Because obviously, just because you're physically safe from your husband at this moment in time, that isn't stopping his abuse from having a huge impact on your life. You need help dealing with this, and these professionals are trained to work with you while you get your life back the way it should be.

Please accept my very best wishes for the future, and know that you can put your life back together into something great.

Good luck!

What you do next is WAKE UP! Snap out of it and get yourself back together. What are you feeling guilty about? You didn't do anything wrong. There is no need for you to be brainwashed into feeling guilty for doing what was necessary. He brought these actions on himself; not you! Take your life back and stop letting him still control you. You have a life that you are very much entitled to so don't let yourself be mired in pity and self doubt. The only thing left for you is up! The sky's the limit so go for it.

You are in shock and something terrible has happened to you.

Instead of experiencing love you have experienced fear and violence.

What to do next?

You need time to sit, acknowledge your situation. Don't be alone, find a friend, a support group talk with them.

If you believe in God, pray, scream, yell at him if you wish....

Seek friends, community and safety, you can start again.

Get to a professional---talk your feelings of possible low self esteem and why you stayed with a crude, disrespectful man---you need to know you deserve and can do better than that.No excuses and yes---love is not supposed to hurt. get going and good luck.

Move on....get on with YOUR life, not what was with him. If you need to, relocate to start new. Put the past behind you and start anew.
