You want one firewall and one anti virus, I guess Norton Internet Security covers those.
You want one anti adware - thats Ad-Aware SE Personal.
And at least one anti spyware, you can have several as unlike anti virus or firewalls they won't conflict.

If you want a second anti virus, go for BitDefender 8. It doesn't run in the background. Unplug the modem from the internet, switch off Norton anti virus, scan with BitDefender, then re-enable Norton.

You need all these anti spyware programs;
http://www.ewido.net - AVG(Ewido) anti trojan.
http://www.safer-networking.org - Spybot Search and Destroy anti spyware. Use the Teatimer settings to protect Internet Explorer, and the Immuniser to stop malware getting on your pc.
Spywareblaster works with Internet Explorer and Firefox. It won't uninstall spyware that is already on your pc, but it will prevent hijacks and other malicious changes to your browser.

Plus;
http://www.lavasoft.com - Ad-Aware SE Personal anti adware

If you mean simultaneously, no. One program should be 'running' at a time. If you have symantecs NAV, you don't need AVG. Norton Anti-virus and AVG are both antivirus programs, there will be a conflict if usinf same 'types' of programs. NAV is a resource hog, AVG works just fine, the 8.0 version is most up to date. Spybot is a great program too. It can be run when you want to scan for spyware. Ad-aware SE is another free program. It searches for adware. Run one program at a time. If you have problems removing norton from your system, go to symantec.com, there is a removal instructions. When you uninstall norton, it doesn't completly uninstall.

NIS and AVG shouldn't be, 2 anti virus scanners will usually conflict. You could how ever turn off NIS and run an AVG scan. Spybot will run fine, but as that again is only a scanner it wouldn't be normal to have 2 scanners running at the same time

I've got them all on my PC, Spybot checks out anything new, strange or odd trying to happen and alerts you and runs continuously; AVG runs continuously in the background, and depending on which Niorton you're using, you might get conflict with AVG

You shouldn't have two antivirus programs running at the same time -- NIS includes Norton Antivirus, and I assume by AVG you mean the antivirus. You can (and should) run multiple antispyware programs, as they work differently and don't usually conflict. Also, make sure the Windows Firewall is turned off, as NIS includes a firewall. (You can keep both antivirus programs on your computer, as long as only one is active at a time.)

You can try it, but you may not be happy with it. I tried running Ad-Aware and Norton Internet Security at the same time and it was a train wreck. I wouldn't advise it.

The free one (anti spy) can as I have those and Ad-Aware. Not sure about the expensive one you have to buy though. If You do have the one you pay for you have to disable your firewall first or the PC freezes. Also, it runs out after 12 months and you have to pay all over again. You can get the cover perfectly well with the free editions. See www.Freedownloads.com

Having all three is not recommended because they can conflict with each other.

Choose 3 software, one anti-virus, one anti-spyware, and one firewall.

Use http://www.compcentral.net/downloads.php?Cat=11 for a list of the top security software to download.
