It is up to the people involved to decide. Only they know the real circumstances.

If you are completely self-sufficient, including financially, then why shouldn't you both stay home.

It depends on how financially stable you are - if the mother is in a high paying job and would like to continu with her career there is no reason why the man cannot stay at home with the children and if you are fortunate enough to be financially independant enough to both be home with the children then it is an awesome situation. Both parents get to experience the joy and sometimes the sheer frustration of being at home! And the children benifit from having two parents at home,

It would depend on the people some women want to go back to work straight away because they have a career and some woman would like to stay at home all day with the children. Which is the same with men.

I am single, and don't plan on having more kids. But, if I was married to a woman who made a great living, and we did have kids, I would have no problem being Mr. Mom. Honestly, does anyone really want to work. You do it to provide for your family. If I had a wife who wanted to work, and could provide for the family, I would do the housework, children to school and "soccer games, etc.

And, when the kids got older, their friends would ask them why their dad always had a boat behind his truck when he dropped them off at school.

Hell, I'm still looking for a Sugar Mama out there.

Kids are the most amazing experience and being a parent is a privilege. Ask any parent and they will tell you that kids grow up so fast it's scary. If there is a way you can work at home to see your kids grow up (when you have them of course) take advantage of it. One of the biggest regrets of working parents is that they miss those special moments in their kids lives.

Which partner is better with the children and which one can earn more money? My husband of 11 years works. I am a full time mom. some ppl say its boring or that I should get a job. PAH LEASE. being that Im the mom.. i am the children's first teacher. My sons were adding fractions and doing basic geometry before they entered Kindergarten ontop of the "basic" Kindergarten knowledge. My 14 month old is almost potty trained and is learning signlanguage.

Me and my boss were just discussing this and we both agreed that if our partners could earn enough to support the whole family we would happily stay at home and be a house husband.

I don't think it matters who stays at home and long as they are up to the job, its not easy looking after kids and keeping a house.

I don't believe in handing kids over to nannies, i think it's important they are raised by the parents and not a stranger.

So long as you and partner don't live off the state and having working people like me paying your rent - I think its a really good idea. I wish I could work from home earning the same money I earn now (or more).

if both parents want to stay at home and look for the kids, who'll work for money and needs? if you think that your parents can do that, well it's okay, but just so happens it means you're not beoing very independent. a good parent won't depend on their parents even though they work, but their money is not only for you and your family it is also for their family. if you really love to take care of the kids i think you should ask your wife to work and fulfill your family's daily needs, but if you think that your wife couldn't handle it, i think you should work for your family needs

The partner who is earnign the least money should stay at home and look after the kids because it makes more sense financilally that they should give up work.
