Take .30 X 500 and you'll get 150.

Any time you want a percentage of something just put a decimal point in front of the number and multiply it. Like I did 30% = .30. So 30% of 500 is 150. .30 X 500 = 150

If it's a single digit like 8, you'll need to put a .0 in front of the number, like this. 8% =.08, then multiply the same way. .08 X 500 = 40.
